Dr Keith’s Philosophy of Care is Simple…

Dr. Keith Maitland is a highly respected chiropractor with over 36 years of clinical experience, including more than three decades of continuous practice on the Gold Coast. Renowned for his ability to resolve complex and persistent health concerns, Dr. Maitland is deeply committed to helping individuals restore their health, fitness, and emotional well-being. His integrative approach addresses not only physical symptoms but also the emotional and behavioural patterns that can influence long-term health and relationships.

Dr. Maitland holds a range of advanced qualifications. He is a Specialist in Applied Kinesiology and a Certified Sports Physician. In addition, he has completed Diplomas in Acupuncture and studies in Herbal Medicine, further broadening his capacity to deliver holistic, evidence-informed care. In 2018, he expanded his practice to include animal chiropractic, becoming a certified Animal Chiropractor.

His passion for chiropractic care began in his early teens after a knee injury led him to seek alternatives to surgery. Chiropractic not only addressed his physical injury but also contributed to improvements in his overall health, including his dyslexia, which in turn positively influenced his academic performance and motivation. These personal experiences inspired both Keith and his brother, Ian, to pursue careers in chiropractic.

After initially completing a degree in Chemistry and briefly working as an industrial chemist, Dr. Maitland chose to follow his true calling and entered chiropractic college in 1980. He later became a pioneer in his field, travelling to the United States in 1987 to sit for the rigorous Applied Kinesiology examinations. He became the first Australian-trained chiropractor to earn Diplomate status from the International Board of Applied Kinesiology—the highest certification available in the discipline.

From 1985 to 1995, Dr. Maitland taught Applied Kinesiology both in Australia and internationally, playing a key role in the development of the profession. He is a founding member and recognised specialist of the Australian chapter of the International College of Applied Kinesiology.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Maitland has worked with numerous high-performance athletes, including national, international, and Olympic competitors. In 1995, he became the first chiropractor appointed to the Australian Swim Team, and has since treated many of Australia’s elite athletes, helping them to achieve and sustain optimal health and peak performance.
